Philippines during Typhoon season?

Thanks for answering my ‘what to do in the Philippines’ question. I have looked at the stats weather wise for the season I am in, and I’m going end of September early October. Stats said it was heavy rain and Typhoon. So what does one do tourist wise during that time? We are mostly staying in Davao and 3 days in Manila. We had lots of plans to visit the catholic cathedrals. Good idea?

I read some of the comments to bring a card instead of money as well. I am originally Hong Kong brought up, they have this swipe card for most public things. However a lot of the venues we went to are local and the shopping we did were on the ’street’ required cash. The only time we used car was bus/train fair and mall shopping.

Is it the same in the Philippines?

Hi!

You really want to have a very good time in the Philippines? Better skip October and go during early December.

You’ll skip all the typhoons and monsoon rains for sure, and you’ll marvel at the lively Christmas lights garnering all the cathedrals and churches of Manila. You can even join the Dawn Mass (Misa del Gallo) with Filipinos and meet new friends there.

Manila’s best cathedrals are all livelier and lit up during Christmas season.: Manila Cathedral is by far the most known of all Philippine cathedrals. It is in Intramuros, Manila. You might also want to check out some of Manila’s large malls.

No, there’s no such card in the Philippines. You only pay in cash or credit card in the Philippines. Transportation in Manila is fairly straightforward although you’ll notice that Manila’s taxis are the cheapest in Asia.

Philippines’ typhoon Ketsana?

Hi I’m confused. The news has been talking about this record typhoon with a rainfall of 410mm.. But isn’t that only 41cm?? As in, almost the size of a school ruler? I don’t understand why that is when people are stuck on rooftops.
